Coming Soon: Emergency Technical Decon Expands with New Portland Facility

By: Joe Anderson, Facility Manager, Portland

Emergency Technical Decon is expanding—and our next stop is Portland, Oregon.

Opening Summer 2025, Emergency Technical Decon’s newest Independent Service Provider (ISP) facility marks a major step in our mission to protect firefighters through innovative, science-backed cleaning. This location will bring our full-service decontamination system to departments in proximity to the West Coast and surrounding states.

Portland’s strong environmental values make it a great home for ETD’s second location. Our closed-loop Liquid CO2+ system removes harmful contaminants without using water or generating hazardous wastewater—eliminating the risk of runoff into local ecosystems. It’s a solution built for departments that care about firefighter health and environmental responsibility in equal measure.

The decision to expand also reflects a growing demand for preventative tools that address cancer risk in the fire service. Traditional cleaning methods often fall short when it comes to successful removal of toxic compounds like PFAS, SVOCs, and heavy metals—leaving firefighters exposed to long-term health hazards. ETD’s process is designed to close that gap by removing contaminants without compromising gear integrity.

This new facility will make it easier than ever for municipal and volunteer departments to implement safer, smarter decontamination practices that help extend PPE life and support firefighter wellness from the first call to the final wash.

Stay tuned for more details as we prepare to open our Portland doors. To learn more or inquire about early scheduling, visit etdecon.com.
